Pray for Missionaries Passage: Genesis 4:1-5, focus verse 4
Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.”
And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground.
In the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground,
and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering,
but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell.
Giving to God with a grateful heart for what He has done for us means we give Him our best. We do not give Him the leftovers. Abel brought the firstborn of his flock as an offering to God, representing the best he had to offer. He did not hold his best back from God. Contrast that with Cain, who made an offering that was not as costly as Abel’s. Cain’s murder of Abel is further evidence that he did not give his offering to God with a willing and devoted heart.
Giving God our best shows we trust and value Him above all else. It also shows we are prioritizing our relationship with Him. Do you give God the best of your time, money, possessions, and talents? Ask God to show you where you may be holding back your best. Pray missionaries would not grow weary in their work and would give God their best.
Prayer Focus: Massachusetts: Kat Izzi is a church-planting team member for Grace Harbor Church in New Bedford, Massachusetts. “Pray for Grace Harbor’s weekly neighborhood kid’s club. It is an after-school program for children in the neighborhood and at the church, where they can learn about Jesus in a fun and interactive way. Additionally, it provides an opportunity to develop various life skills, including emotional regulation and respecting authority. So far, the club has an average of 10 to 12 children each week. Pray for the volunteers and that children would hear and respond to the good news of Jesus. Pray this ministry would also lead to the salvation and growth of whole families in the church’s neighborhood.

Missions Through WMU and WOM
The mission of God is a thread woven throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. God makes it clear His desire is for all people to know Him and follow Him. The Bible helps us understand God’s mission and know how Christians are to be involved in His mission.
God issued the mandate for us to be involved in missions through the Great Commission. Our choice is how to be involved. WMU and WOM offers many opportunities for giving and hands-on service missions projects.

Join us on the mission to equip every missionary and reach every lost person in the United States and Canada.
Mary Hill Davis Offering
September
Your giving enables Texas Baptists to minister across Texas sending missionaries and provide opportunities for people to hear the Gospel, find hope in Christ, and sustain WMU of Texas’ ministry efforts. Your gifts bring hope to a battered woman and her family. Your giving provides medicine for a sick child at a free medical clinic. A child’s life is changed because your generosity enables them to go to summer camp.
